Immersing oneself in nature infuses an unconditional sense of connection. I explore this with playful depictions of people passively interacting within the wild landscape. Being in nature changes how we view ourselves and our relationship to earth. So much of our lives have shifted inside. With instant means available to connect anywhere on the globe with a touch of a button, it has become more of an effort to experience any wilderness outside our walls. Yet, it is the untamed part of our world that sustains and feeds us. We are linked together in the most primal way. With the progressing fragility of our planet, the importance of preserving it is becoming ever more critical. These collage paintings, created by layering hundreds of pieces of mixed materials on painted canvas, are my reflections of being more connected to nature.
