If you like your vibrant, graphic design-influenced paintings with a side of Florida-weird childhood, I’m your girl. In my latest series, children with dismembered body parts are both enveloped by a playful palette and layered with repetitive patterns ; a combination that mesmerizes while provoking unease. Much like my personality, there’s a playfulness at the surface, however beneath the story of each piece is a bit of darkness.
In all my pieces, I balance colors intuitively and challenge myself to only 5 hues without adding black. I draw on personal experiences in which contradictions were central; the somewhat garish, sunlit quality of 80’s & 90’s Florida mixed with the experience of growing up with a mobster father who instilled in me a clear sense of paranoia from a young age.
