Oreo Vinyl is literally an Oreo cookie that plays music like a vinyl record. The designers at Dimension Plus in Hong Kong created a mini cardboard record player, built into the packaging, and teamed up with musicians to restyle the original ‘Oreo Wonderfilled Anthem’.
The data for each song is modified and embossed onto the cookie using an intricate laser-engraving technique. It won a Design Mark from Golden Pin Design Award 2017 for innovation in visual communication design. The designers wrote a computer program to transform the music into a physical format for the laser-engraving machine.
Each box contains six cookies, playing the original ‘Oreo Wonderfilled Anthem’ in six different genres — rock, Chinese, jazz, folk, electronic and classical.
