As much as I love landscape photography, I felt like it was nearly possible to capture the feeling of being in the space you were photographing. So, instead of attempting to recreate that feeling, I decided to essentially make up my own landscapes. These are images from a body of work I made a few years ago. Photographed on an old Polaroid 100 Land Camera with Fuji FP-100C film. These are double exposure shots, where I photographed the landscape, flipped the camera upside down and shot again. Through this process, my photographs became almost mirror images, overlapping each other, creating new textures and surreal spaces. Comforting in their familiarity, but also intriguing in their strangeness.
