Ocean Belly is a series captured when I was visiting Miami in the Winter. I spent most of the time on the beach, where I laid on my partner’s belly and watched the sea. As I listened to the sounds of belly water sloshing around, I realized it bears similarities to the waves crashing in from the sea. There's something magnetic about the sea, the force of the tide pulls you and lures you in. A childlike game between me and the sea forms, running towards it and running away from it when the waves come crashing. I always wondered why I was drawn to the sounds of a belly and it resembled a return to birth, the belly being where I was held before entering the world. Hence it could be why most of us find the sea a magnetic place where we return to our child like selves looking for the familiar feeling we felt unconsciously before birth
