These are not good photographs. They are taken with my phone, , hastily shot, and unedited besides a little cropping. The subjects are not exciting either: a stain left by a planter, my legs on my dashboard, a reflection in the toilet of a greyhound bus, a tack perfectly fitted into a paperclip, a spiderweb filled with sand... but they each have their own humble drama. I see these photographs as moments of perception, decisions about what to notice. These are things that are not asking for attention, when so many other things are. Seeing them is an exercise in slowing down. I post them on my Instagram (@pauldef) as an exercise in saying "this is important."
New Things in Everyday Moments
