The serial images come out from the photographer’s recent factory tour to Pietrasanta, a town in Tuscany where many marble workshops are operated.
“Polished and be a saint”, the scenes here will give one new thought on the power relations among human beings, religion, and belief. The religious statues shatter all around, some are stained and broken, being juxtaposed alongside many other modern sculptural forms, and some are finished and waiting to be delivered.
With marble dust swirling in the air, the light that sheds through the rusty high window is just as holy as the one in a church, Only that the statues’ meanings are deprived, they become merely human-made objects.
