Since 2014 I have been coordinating a global collaborative adventure with 120 different participants in 45 different countries and on all seven continents. This project is the continuation of my personal investigation of ephemeral public art with magnetic cyanotype butterflies. During the three years of Swarm the World, 6,000 of my butterflies were split up and covered fifteen different regions around the globe. In each section, the first participant received the butterflies, installed them on magnetic surfaces or objects around their city / town, photographed them, moved them to new places and then sent them on to the next person and the process was repeated. This 260 page book is the result of our collective labors.
