Being surrounded by the buzz of city life makes me seek out calm and stillness through painting. Using a mix of watercolor paint, India ink and metallic gold, my work is an abstract interpretation of thoughts and experiences based on past travels and present day situations. Most of the experiences I draw from have to do with nature since I feel most at peace exploring the land around us. That sense of peace or wonder is what I try to bring to each painting. Each work is numbered according to the order in which they were created, and also represents the number of paintings I completed in my life at that time. I'm a recent self-taught painter, after spending my entire adult life as a graphic designer. My minimal and modern aesthetic with graphic design translates over to my paintings, where ideas are stripped down to basic forms.
