My name is Baltasar Portillo, www.baltasarportillo.com I am an sculptor and designer. I was born in El Salvador . I am interested in the controversial relationship between art and design, from which I notice boundaries coming narrower now days, especially with discursive design in which concept is more important than function. On this occasion I am interested in presenting my current work, entitled “Mutantes (mutants)”, the project involves the rescue of discarded objects from remodeled houses from gentrified neighborhoods and its transformation into luminary sculptures. With this transformation I seek to preserve the discarded traditional aesthetics and the heritage it implies. and would be considered sculptures or lamps depending on the context
