These images portray the confusion of American life today. A place where we are told symotainiously that we can be a thing we want & that we must conform to the status quo. The first is titled “American Woman” the images focus on a central figure who is depicted as powerful/independent, but not necessarily happy. The second image is titled “Please do not Mansplain” featuring a few women who seem to be patiently waiting & listening as the other person in the conversation goes on & on about points she has already made. The central figure has already excused herself & walked away from the situation. In the third image “She chose the bottle” the collage dipicts the struggles of alcoholism and anxiety in our culture today. Many who struggle feel they become a different person when they’re drinking- as the split image suggests.
