In Michael Peck's new exhibition, 'Beautiful Barricade, objects and figures have been patterned with floral motifs inspired by traditional European still life works, wallpaper and textile designs - a suggestion of the rearfied interiors and landscapes of luxury living. Each piece is an expression of one of two opposing themes- conflict or comfort. The resulting pairing of object and design suggest broader issues; the seduction of power, the true cost of luxury and security. Peck's floral pattern here acts as a curtain; a beautiful barricade.
Beautiful Barricade is will be exhibited from the 17th October to 11th November at Michael Reid Gallery, Sydney. Australia.
