Matronym is a theater performance that celebrates and summons female ancestors. It was created by actor, writer and director Amanda Langberg Hermansen with animated visuals by graphic designer Osvald Landmark.
Matronym was performed at the renowned Theater FÅR302 in Copenhagen November 2023 and received honorable mentions in major Danish news outlets such as Sjællandske Medier.
In Matronym three sisters have decided to create a ritual in honor of their female ancestors. The three sisters, played by actors, Amanda Hermansen, Anna Bove and Isabella Lerche get accompanied by their ancestors in form of animated video projection and soundscapes created by Osvald Landmark. The projections bring the ancestor to life in the room and gives a voice to those who seldom has been heard.
