My work examines the complicated and compelling intersection between humans and the natural world. The work begins with the observation of the absurd as it relates to this intersection, shedding light on the extreme beauty that often exists in some of humankinds' most damaging examples of consumption. Drifting illustrates these points with cloud-like structures built on, in and around wheeled scaffolding structures that float in the gallery. Partially inspired by the beauty of a Kansas sunset, the colors immerse the room and the viewers with serenity. These clouds, whose mobility is always limited by their reliance on the electrical outlets, are an illustration of the built environment and an awareness of our imposition on the landscape calling attention to not only our dependence on nature, but also the impact of our presence.
