Contemporary artist Marie-Aubeline Hiot creates still life artworks where he seeks to realise objects in their form, colour, and relation to space. Her paintings and drawings show everyday objects or moments, often with a humoristic twist. Flowers, ties, shirts or shark’s fin… They are in various sizes and placed into ambiguous, singular spaces.
She paints her compositions with positive colours, which introduces an expressive, emotive aspect in her practice.
“My artistic language consists of extracting graphic and simple images from everyday life, often naive.
I like the subjectivity that an image can bring, and play with it.
We go through so much in life without being able to realise the mundane beauty. I love to highlight it.”
