Madeline E. Goolie is a printmaker from Anchorage, Alaska. She is interested in expressing extravagant, overwhelming, feelings through her hand carved prints. Growing up she felt that showing her emotions was inconvenient and invaluable. As she is growing , she has learned that this is an unsustainable mindset. She now realizes that it is better to feel anything rather than nothing at all. These linocut prints are influenced by dramatic and exaggerated features that are often pulled from her own insecurities. She selects certain animal imagery to include in her work based on their symbolisms. Printmaking is often a strict art form, while her moody art style is loose and free formed a contrast that is important to her in her process.
