As wealth moves back to the city from all over the world displacing old residents, as cultural mainstays are kicked out for new fly-by-night trends, as consumption and conformity rise, and as devices strain the traditional fabric of connection within the city, feelings of disconnection, loneliness, ambiguity, stress, and anxiety reveal themselves with increasing frequency. New York is becoming both richer and poorer at once.
