My practice involves looking into the familiar, exploring what is known to us through the everyday, in particular, researching the decaying fragments of our urban surroundings. While dissecting the familiar, my practice has naturally dived into ideas focusing on uncanny perceptions, the strange or difficult to explain.
Distorting the familiar through the process of painting assists in focusing on the transitive state between familiar and unfamiliar. My practice involves methods of painting to examine dialogues between varying and shifting feelings, and representations, therefore allowing to create perceptions that are uncanny and mysterious. Creating mystery and uncertainty feels significant In my work right now, reflecting feelings of the current COVID-19 crisis.
