From dripping jungle to the sublime of empty desert, from the ethereal salt flats of the altiplano to the grasslands of Patagonia. From the pathos of politics and colonisation to the patina of enduring spirit and identity. The poetry of myth and folktale to the cruelties of globalisation and poverty. This is Hispanic America.
An archaic thread of magic, mysticism and lore weaves its way from the high plateaus of central Mexico to the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego. Over these vast distances we're drawn to tales of religious fervour- indigenous beliefs and Christianity- and the hope and fatalism they inspire. We see economic migration to cities and the spiritual vexation that often results, both saviour and destroyer. We see the easy acceptance of death and the hardships of daily life. We see people shaped by landscape.
