A series of artworks that explore the interplay between the observer and light, drawing inspiration from plants reliance on light for growth.
This exploration is a reflection on a principle of quantum mechanics, known as the Observer Effect; the phenomenon in which the act of observation alters the behaviour of the particles being observed.
I’m exploring these concepts with Cyanotypes, Darkroom Photography and hand carved Lino Prints.
Cyanotypes absorb the sun, The Darkroom is repelled by the sun, while Hand Carved Lino is a complete tactile imprint. The artworks invite contemplation on the intricate connections between artistic intention and the observed medium that captures an image.
