Myanmar is a nation shrouded by civil war. Conflict is so routine that guns, even fake ones such as these, provoke little reaction. Only religion and war are constants here and it is no surprise that the two, so at odds with each other ideologically, should mix so freely.
I am a photographer who documents what I see. These boys are acting out a scene found the world over, imitating their elders. In one corner of the world it would be doctors and teachers, here it is gunmen. Images should be arresting, but they should also explore humanities common ground. Our emotions are the same the world over.
