I'm fascinated with faces, have been since I was a child. I use photographic portraits as a canvas for my otherworldly characters. As a Trans-woman of color, I'm interested in race, color-ism, afro-futurism, culture, religion, gender and transformation, with a decidedly high fashion esthetic, thanks to the endless Vogue and Bazaar magazines that filled my isolated teen years.
While I'm happy to share with the viewer my intentions for a piece, I'm not really invested in that aspect the process ,as that is personal to me. I'm frankly more interested in what the viewer gleans from seeing them.
Ultimately, I'm celebrating the least celebrated among us, in my own curious way.
