This series captures the citizens and tourists of Athens, Greece during the first heatwave of 2024. According to locals, this is the earliest a heatwave of this extremity has hit the city in over 200 years. Shopowners spoke to me in worried tones about the state of the environment, and how it is affecting their city and country. These images, captured over one day at the start of the heatwaves, show Athenians (cats included) and their visitors as they fight to manage the blistering conditions.
