Since January 2016, I've sold 250+ paintings in my $100 USD series (11 x 14" acrylic on canvas panels) directly from my regular FaceBook page. Admittedly, I have solid connections based on 30+ years singing in the punk rock duo Mecca Normal (an early inspiration to the co-founders of Riot Grrrl).
Having spent years creating characters in my writing (mostly yet-to-be published novels) informs the depth of emotions in this series. I tend to adjust the nuances of tension on the face until there's a palpable intensity that is to me, more important than aiming for the likeness of a specific person.
In September, 2017, The Jealous Curator featured five paintings on her site and sales increased dramatically, as anticipated, but the enthusiasm gave me a sense that there is a broader interest in my work than only my FaceBook friends.
