The images below were taken in an installation piece I built in January of 2021 as a response to a difficult breakup that left me feeling overwhelmed with emotion. My process of creation is typically a reaction to outside circumstances or situations, so almost without thought I began creating a huge raining storm cloud in my newly empty living room out of silver tinsel I had for another project. It reminded me of the personal rain cloud trope in cartoons as the onset of heavy emotion followed me even beyond my now empty home. However, the trope fails to mention how healing it can be to stand in the rain and let it cleanse you- in other words, sitting with and acknowledging your pain in a real way is necessary to get through it. I think that would've helped us empathize with those characters, and ultimately ourselves a lot more.
