Zach Atticus’ past work focused on a specific subject and their moment of isolated self-reflection. The scenes were intimate and gave the viewer a voyeuristic look into the subject as they were confronted with change. Starting this new series in March 2020, the idea of isolated self-reflection took on new meaning; Covid-19 pushed us all into isolation and made us confront change. By removing the subject from the paintings, this series aims to create the same feeling of foreboding melancholy and stillness as previous works, all while pushing the gaze back towards the viewer.
