Isolation is a series inspired by the idea of the "self-portrait" as a genre of photography. I chose to return to my roots in the countryside to shoot this series in an exploration of my identity and the dichotomy of my adult and childhood self. I spent the vast majority of my childhood in the countryside with nothing but my camera and myself as a subject. Years later I felt I needed to return to this setting to explore myself in the same context as a different person.
My denim jacket became a symbol of my identity and a motif that further conveyed the theme of isolation. I shot it flying through the wind to symbolize the fleeting and ephemeral nature of my experiences juxtaposed against the vast nothingness of my surroundings.
