To most western eyes, the written Chinese language is simply an aesthetic — beautiful and iconic, but otherwise obscured by cultural and linguistic distance. As speakers (and enthusiasts) of the Chinese language, we wanted to highlight the unique way that Chinese characters contain meaning. We set out to offer viewers the thrill of taking the first step into the world of the Chinese language, using the visual qualities of 汉字 as a tool.
