My ink work is an experiment in focus. The unforgiving nature of pen and ink as compared to oil painting (my other medium) forces me to improve with each mark and every drawing.
I started working in ink more often in the last two years as online monthly challenges gained attention, and this need to get my ideas onto paper really took over. Painting is certainly my favorite means of creating figurative artwork and I will continue to paint, but taking those moments in my day to focus on what is right in front of me- down to minute details, has been some of the most rewarding means of creative expression.
My book is a collection of those daily drawings and thoughts, and it's unique to see these illustrations in one place. I'm grateful for the friends and patrons that really pushed me to get a collection printed.
