I was originally more of a writer, but in my 30s I fell headfirst into abstract painting and, from there, into digital art. I work as chaotically as I can. In addition to layering a variety of images, including sketches, scanned photographs and found objects, I also corrupt image data to produce unpredictably distortive 'glitch' effects. I prefer to work in large formats for diverse textures. I approach digital projects the same as I approach poems or abstract paintings-- a mystery, only finished when it feels finished.
My latest pieces incorporate cutouts of words from books and magazines, their meanings rearranged. Divested of context and rearranged, the words I cut out and apply to my layered and 'glitched' textures become a story, or stories, or words teetering at the edge of senselessness.
