This series was created en plein air, during multiple painting/camping trips during the fall of 2017. In pursuit of an honest interpretation of experience within nature, I sought total immersion of my surroundings. I discovered a visual experience engulfed in the denseness of the shrubbery and woods. The plein air painting process is a fast-paced frenzy. Racing with the sun is a stubborn quest that requires quick decision making. As I fought for full grasp of my perception, the elements slowly broke down into shape, rhythm and pattern. The paintings were refined through constant editing and arduous reevaluation of both my interpretation and my perception.
