HyperSigns is an ongoing body of work that looks at art history and consumer imagery. From Picasso and Matisse, to Prada and news media, I paint in the American tradition of post-Pop painting (which is itself interesting from an Australian point-of-view), taking Alex Katz and David Salle as my points of departure. Materiality of paint and surface are at the forefront of my practice – while I make images designed for mass-consumption, I want to get at how these painted forms exist in a gallery context.
