Born in Osaka Japan, graduated in Osaka University of Arts. Based in Düsseldorf, works worldwide.
For 421 days from April 2014, Photographer Sakurai Ryuta left Japan and wandered through 9 Asian countries on his way to India. He took photographs of the local people, who he met on his travels. He documented the landscapes, flora and fauna of the cities and the lives of the people, and visited temples on the his road. He was debating his own identity, captured the universality of the world, and dare to explore what "truth" is in this era of chaos directly by straight photography.
This project "Human Trip" was nominated on Unseen Dummy Award (Netherlands) in 2019 and a photobook of the same work was published by 89books (Italy) in 2021.
