My works indicate an approach to human beings and their particular characters. They convey impressions of human existence, which is characterized by a mood that could be best described as "cheerful" melancholy.
Origin for new work is the observation of everyday life, ordinary people and their quirks, habits and peculiarities.
Depicting the ambivalence between strengths and weaknesses of my figures from a perspective, that is characterized by sympathy and compassion, is important to me. Figures' physiognomies are often exaggerated and represents their inner process. Combining absurdity, melancholic atmospheres and humour is typical for my work. Thereby humour functions as a catalyser for understanding, allowing an approach to these figures.
