My work is an exploration of design, color theory, and texture, inspired by Japanese minimalism- Wabi Sabi. I have worked hard to cultivate my craft, creating a style, or technique rather, that could set my abstract creations apart from others. Whilst experimenting with acrylic fluid paint, a happy accident occurred in the studio. I happen to drop bits of a mixture of paint I was about to pour onto canvas, onto my disposable palette paper. Later on, I came to find that the particular kind of fluid paint I had used, when dried onto my palate paper and peeled up, had created an interesting almost vinyl-like texture that took on its own artistic merit. I started to further experiment, creating random paint pours of various shapes, a process I now refer to as “making candy”.
