Through the medium of oil painting, I depict a dichotomy between the traditionally feminine aesthetic and rebellious independence through decorative patterns merging with representations of young female figures. This body of work explores the rejection of orthodox femininity and a frustration with domesticity. The existential dread of following a template to womanhood is what burdens the minds of many young girls growing up in a new generation. Disillusioned portraits of burgeoning women question societal norms and the traditionally feminine all while claiming a space for their own powerful answers.
