Inspired by two friends embarking on a new adventure, I decided to embark on a new adventure as a photographer and learn to shoot and develop my own film for the first time.
Rachel and Alex were starting a new life together on a farm that had been in Rachel’s family for hundreds of years. Acres of land that had been neglected for decades would now go back into their tender young hands.
As most of our peers were moving away to big cities, they stood fast with their hands in the dirt. I felt it was only right that I document their journey on film and use my own hands to develop the frames. As the sun rose, I joined them on their morning routine as they tended to the farm. Grains of silver absorbed the light on their farm and appeared in front of my eyes like magic.
