Green Lesson is a visual diary of my experiences on the cusp of fall shared with the Doukhobor community along the Columbia River in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Traditionally “Green Lesson” is an hour, or day, where school children explore nature as a means of education outside the classroom in order to encourage a different perspective and new appreciation for the world around them. In many ways, I felt this way, like a school child exploring and leaning, while making this work and in doing so came to appreciate a renewed meaning of community, compassion, and perseverance.
