Jen Uman has experienced a flourish of creativity, which has led to her newest set of prints. A series of pen drawings, which each measure 24” x 36”. “These explore the perimeter of unwarranted life experiences and reconnecting with my own point of view inferentially,” she says. Each print is signed and numbered, with a run of 20 each. In this series, Uman presents a line-up of stark backgrounds with strong traces of suggestion. It’s this approach that Uman does best, and this time, with a void of color, she creates a subtle, unnerving, perversity from an unabashed simplicity. As she states, “These works are full-on, no frills.”In the past Uman has produced paintings, videos and illustrations. She now works mainly with pen and paper, raw canvas and gouache. Never on the computer.
