Im an image maker based in Los Angeles, but Chicago raised. I spend a lot of energy focusing on gender in my photography. I like exploring the degree to which gender can be muted and/ or ignored in a photograph. It is quite easily bent and fused using wardrobe, makeup and other elements we often take for granted as an image viewer. It is becoming far more common to flip the binary in a photo, say by putting a man in woman's clothes, then it used to be. However, the space that exists in between the binary genders (as in for those that are trans, or who have transitioned) is far less explored visually and that entices me. There is something about questioning gender roles that I find infatuating. Its a source for things that are beautiful yet challenging for me to grapple with artistically.
