My current work deals with American consumerism at present and its sociological implications. While driving or walking, I see countless pieces of waste...things deemed as exhausted or disposable by their original owners. Although in a dilapidated state, some of these objects have been morphed into a new object by the abuse they have endured. They have assumed a new role in form and tell a story – one which plays part in my use of them. I take these objects that most see as having no purpose and incorporate them into my artwork as a veneration of their past, present, and future. Such a message parallels our contemporary society where we are quick to dismiss those with troubled pasts. However, with care and effort, anyone and anything can be given new purpose and new life.
