Computers. The Internet. Smartphones. The Web. Many of the technologies we use each day are powered by software so critical that even minor flaws in its source code could stop the world in its tracks.
Yet much of this software is “open source”, written and maintained by a largely unknown group of computer programmers and professionals who have opted to freely share their software with the world instead charging for it.
But who exactly are these unsung heroes? I wanted to find out.
Faces of Open Source is a photographic documentation of the people behind the open source revolution. The project is comprised of portraits of people who dedicate themselves to the creation and advancement of open source technologies that most people are unaware of but can no longer live without.
