Having a background in traditional Chinese calligraphy, I’ve always been fascinated by its simplicity of composition and color. More importantly, I am attracted to the flow of emotion I sense through the expressive brush strokes, and the meditative state of mind these great calligraphy artists possess. As my artwork often depict or document the unique and personal feelings I experience in everyday life through the intuitively or patiently painted brush strokes, Chinese calligraphy influences greatly on the thinking and the style of my works especially in composition and forms. Portraying these feelings through painting and drawing allows me to resolve and release the pressure I hold within these pieces of memories and recollect the tranquil and bright moment in life.
