Exalted Abominations is a series of photographs referencing the LGBTQ community by ironically using religious iconography from a religion that condemns gay culture. It is no secret that the LGBTQ community consistently faces bouts of bigotry and discrimination. Even though the world evolves, becoming more tolerant of queer individuals over time, injustice has yet to cease. Due to a Christian influenced society that refuses to accept queer sexuality, many live part if not all of their life clouded with self-hatred and doubt.
The premise of Exalted Abominations is not to offend the viewer, but to inform them. The idea that Christianity has led to the unfortunate discrimination of the gay community throughout history is one that is ignored due to its popularity and powerful stance in influencing the world’s morals.
