I had someone call my photos boring recently, and they're right, in a post-McGinley instagram driven age, when everybody has a camera in their pockets, and more and more 20s something's are picking up analog cameras what makes me and my photos and my photo diary so special?
And in short nothing really. But that's the point. Life's boring, everything's boing. Although that doesn't mean it's not worth documenting. Having a camera around my neck has changed the way I think about life and photography, it's caused me to come out of my shell and go out of the way for a good shot. In a way the Iphone desensitized us to the sentimental value of the photograph. I'd rather have 100 pictures of my friends, lovers, or random people I've spoke to for 2 hours than what I ate for breakfast.
