The ocean exists beyond a physical place, it is primordial memory, escape, and nature at its most vast and powerful. My work pulls from the golden age of marine exploration, when many parts of the world remained wild and unknown. Derived from stories of these early scientific expeditions, my watercolor drawings collect animals, human-made forms, and natural objects alongside each other in quietly controlled scenes. They serve as a speculative historical record of these travels, and offer glimpses of an older, unexplored world.
