Embracing the beauty in imperfections, audio visual artist Julia Neubauer creates vibrant abstract landscapes full of familiar, yet extraordinary textures. Like work by Jennifer West and José Antonio Sistiaga, Julia’s paintings, with their vibrant colours and direct animation methods, merge analog with digital technologies.
Julia’s work is strongly influenced by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi; an aesthetic focusing on finding beauty in imperfections and accepting the impermanence of life. Her creative process is intuitively evolving through experimentation with new techniques and mediums, including photography, film, mixed media art and audio. Past projects have investigated the use of texture in relation to musical timbre through art installations, experimental films and graphic scores.
