The striking subtlety of embroidery led me to develop my 'Embroidered Tattoo Shirts'. It's cool to mix and match different design styles - from the hyper-realistic to abstract designs, from serious messages to silly characters - on the same garment, making something that comes out looking something like a tattoo sleeve. The boldness of the individual designs and the power of the symbols are softened by their final outcome, as they become part of a garment. I love taking ownership of a traditionally unappreciated 'woman's work' and creating art with it. These shirts use a centuries-old technique to create a modern, striking look and are personalised to express the wearer's own style.
