Éloge de l’Ombre

Excess of light is perilous for light itself. I am mostly drawn to the shadows. There lies perennial beauty, one without artifice, one that comes from the depths. It is born from within the spectator as he guesses faint light reflecting on a surface in a dark room. So in a way, what's truly beautiful about the shadows is the light that manages to escape from them.

"Éloge de l'Ombre" is a series that takes its roots from In Praise of Shadows, an essay on Japanese aesthetics by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki.
