Ellie Benton works primarily in intuitive painting to investigate the emotional, physical, and spiritual dynamics of human interactions and relationships. Whilst mainly based in abstraction, some paintings graze on figurative representations, including elements found in nature. This makes it difficult to differentiate the representational from the geometric shapes. There is a strong sense of life force in all of Ellie’s paintings, and by detaching them from realistic representation, they give the viewer an opportunity to create their own meaning or associations.
The use of colour is both deliberate and instinctive, capturing the essence of playfulness and exuberance. Through her art, she invites us to see beyond the surface and connect with the shared human experience.
